Amaryllis Bulbs
For spectacular indoor blooms in the depths of winter, nothing rivals amaryllises. Their huge, trumpet-shaped flowers provide a bold splash of color, brightening even the bleakest day.
Colorblends bulbs are huge — the size of a very large orange or small grapefruit. Each is guaranteed to produce at least two stems, and most stems will yield at least four flowers, sometimes more.
Where winters are mild (in the Coastal South and in Coastal California, from San Francisco to San Diego), amaryllises can be planted outdoors. They need well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. Protection from the afternoon sun will extend the flowering season. Bulbs planted outdoors generally bloom in the spring.
