Wild Tulip Bulbs
These little beauties are the unsung heroes of the tulip world. They look delicate, but they’re actually very tough, having endured for hundreds, and probably thousands, of years in the forbidding mountains and hidden valleys of Central Asia and the Middle East.
You’ll find a sampling of garden-worthy wild tulips and near-relatives here. For an interactive map and photos of 40 tulips in their native habitats, visit Tulips In the Wild.
Wild tulips have the ability to come back and bloom for several years if you site them with care. They want full sun and very well-drained soil that is on the dry side in summer. A sprinkler system will likely cut their lives short.
